Founders’ Cask VI

Each time we go searching for the next single barrel for our Founders’ series it is a whiskey adventure. As we taste our way through the barrels for worthy candidates for our Cask Strength selections we find many that are ultimately selected by our customers for their Single Barrel programs. (See details below).

From time to time we find distinctly unique barrels that we set aside for consideration for our own local Founders’ release. Now that the last of the highly successful Cask V is spent, we are more than pleased to announce the launch of Cask VI.

These tasty bottles will be made available first at our Mill Street Tasting Room on September‌ 28, and we will start taking orders that afternoon on our online store for shipping to Pennsylvania residents only.

Founders’ Cask VI Tasting Notes

This wonderful 6-year-old barrel (filled in August 2017 and subsequently bottled in September 2023) has a very enticing profile with a nose that reminds us of perfectly roasted marshmallows with just a hint of wood smoke which contrasts perfectly with the rye spice, a hint of graham cracker, vanilla and root beer, plus a little heat with every sip.

Cask Strength Single Barrels

More Ascot Awards For 2023

Every year we get great reviews from the group of whiskey pros who conduct the blind tasting with the incomparable Fred Minnick to select the annual Ascot Awards.

All three of our 2023 entries earned top awards: Founders’ Cask IV took a Double Platinum, our Maple Cask Finish Rye grabbed a Platinum and the 2022 edition of our Bonded Straight Rye scored a Gold Award.

Fall Faves in the Tasting Room

Things are getting festive at our Mill Street Tasting Room as we prepare to launch our fall cocktail list with a couple of favorites and some soon-to-be new favorites.

The popular apple cider-based Für Elise makes a triumphant return to the menu this season. We are also changing up the Spicy Margarita with the addition of tasty fall pears while our milk-washed Ward 8 makes the list as an inspired take on the citrus-friendly classic.

Last but not least, we have created something we call the Grand Slam that combines a bacon-washed rye with maple syrup and fresh fruit. Crazy good!
